Since Jamie and I moved to Brussels so soon after our wedding, we decided to postpone a honeymoon until we could truly enjoy it "free of distraction." Thanks to a generous coupon from our the Gibsons, as well as some wedding cash from some Memphis friends, we decided to book a vacation at the Club Med resort in Otronto, Italy.
We went on our delayed honeymoon in late July. Other than two of our seven days having extreme wind conditions, the weather was perfect! Club Med resorts are great for those who just want to kick back and not worry about money, details, attire, appointments, anything. It is the definition of stress free. We spent time snorkeling, horseback riding, kayaking, biking, working out, shooting archery, boating, playing tennis and so much more. Of course, the majority of our time was spent laying out, which I could prove in redness for a full two weeks.
We were very thankful to have met many great friends on our trip. So many people get caught up in the places they go as opposed to the people they meet. We are truly blessed to experience both, but are most thankful for our new friends. By the end of our week, we had a core group of around 9 people that we will consider friends forever. Of these, 4 were from Belgium, 2 were from Paris, 2 were from south France and 1 from Israel. We look forward to keeping in touch with them all!
