House Flood

Several months back, Jamie and I returned home after a big rain to find a pool in the bottom floor of our house. We typically use the bottom floor of the house as our "dog room," keeping the pups there while we're gone. Thank God, we moved the dogs a couple of days prior to our patio. After a two-day cleanup, the awful smell began to leave the house and we were starting to feel as if things were normal again.

The next day, it happened again. This time, we had twice as much rain covering nearly 2 feet of wall, including the sockets. Thanks to the Gibsons and their squeegy, we went on a turbo clean up mission, eliminating all signs of the flood within a day's time.

The heavy rains were completely rare to Belgium. The rain is common, but not the intensity. The government sent us a letter several days later explaining that the underground drains had overfilled, causing water to come up through the drains in people's homes and streets.

Many days of rain since, and a flood hasn't happened. Looks like we are in the clear. See some of our pictures below:
