A day on a Segway...

Jamie and I decided to spend the Saturday before Easter in Brugge and it turned out to be more exciting than we could have imagined. Our initial idea was to join a bike tour that would take us on a 4-hour journey around the outskirts of the city. Once we realized that time was not on our side, we decided to look for plan B.

Thanks to www.tripadvisor.com, our favorite site of all time, we were able to research some other things to do in this touristy town. Ranked just under a bike tour, was another two wheel creature known as a Segway. I had always been poking at the idea of wabbling around town on a Segway, so here was our chance. We called the company, reserved a tour and died and went to heaven.

In Europe, the chain of command in traffic is Pedestrians, Bikes, Public Transportation, and finally vehicles at the bottom. In other words, pedestrians have the right-a-way everywhere. In Brugge, it is the same, but with Segways resting atop the traffic pyramid. Not only does everyone move aside and wait, but they are also likely to ask for a photo. Jamie and I enjoyed the celebrity status for the day...
