So, imagine your favorite lake. Now envision many small European towns surrounding the lake with mountains surrounding them. Coupled with great friends and unimaginably good food, you now have the best weekend getaway possible.
Several weeks ago, Jon and Raven joined Jamie and myself on a trip to George Clooney's vacation spot, Lake Como, Italy. To be accurate, the town we visited was Belaggiou, Italy nestled at a point on Lake Como. No matter where you are on this lake, it is evident why celebrities would choose it as a vacation spot. Furthermore, hotels and/or vacation homes are readily available throughout the area at very reasonable costs.
As soon as we arrived, all four of us visited down town Belaggiou looking for some good food and wine. We found it. And then we had a hard time leaving it. Before we knew it, we had spent the majority of the day in a wine cellar talking and having the time of our lives. It is amazing how much fun you can have sitting in one place when you are surrounded by good friends. After a stumble-filled walk back to the hotel, we got ready for dinner, more drinks and some much needed rest.
After a great morning and afternoon in Verona, day two took a turn for the worse. Jamie caught something, whether it be the flu or food poisoning. Needless to say, it was sad to see and I felt completely bad for her. It was so bad that we had to call a doctor. He was an Italian guy, obviously, that spoke zero English. The funniest part of his visit was that he ran an IV and then left. We had to take it out several hours later. Come to find out, this is a staple in the health care system in Europe. Anyhow, I knew Jamie was in completely bad shape when she didn't even flinch at me taking her IV out.
Though I hated to see Jamie go through that, I am excited to visit Lake Como yet again someday soon.
