Trip to the Champagne Region

I can't imagine finding many things over our next 20 months in Belgium that we will enjoy doing more than visiting the Champagne region. It is only 3 hours there and having a car while you are there makes the trip much easier. I highly recommend it. While we were there, we stopped at many wineries and enjoyed two afternoons worth of stories and champagne.

Two "must-visit" attractions in this region are the Caillez-LeMaire winery and Abbay D'Hautvillers. The Caillez-LeMaire was simply our favorite of all wineries. The people were so welcoming and enjoyable to be around. The tour is detailed and the samples are bottomless. A+. Abbay D'Hautvillers is the monestary where Dom Perignon supposedly invented Champagne. It is a unique experience to say the least!
We got shot at for taking this picture, but luckily they missed!
Random sign that we pulled over for.
